Is the Smart Video Doorbell compatible with my current installation?

The Smart Video Doorbell was specifically designed to replace your existing doorbell button.
If you have a chime, the Smart Doorbell uses the existing wires to power itself and sound your chime.
The Smart Video Doorbell does not work with wireless doorbells that are battery-powered. To install the Video Doorbell without a chime, you must use a Netatmo Plug-in Transformer or In-Wall Transformer. When someone rings your doorbell, not only will it ring on your phone but it can also ring on compatible smart speakers!
The Video Doorbell does not replace an intercom or video intercom. Check compatibility on check.netatmo.com/security . In order to work, the specifications of the Doorbell’s circuit must be:
Voltage compatibility: from 8 to 24 VAC or 230 VAC
Transformer specifications: minimum 8 VA
Does the Smart Video Doorbell include a chime? Can I keep my current chime?
The Smart Video Doorbell does not have a chime because it was designed to work with your existing wired chime, whether it’s electronic or mechanical. If your current chime is not compatible with the Netatmo installation, check the list of compatible chimes in our Help Centre.
Why is a chime required?
The Smart Video Doorbell was specifically designed to replace your existing doorbell and therefore it works with an existing wired chime. In this installation, the chime creates a charge in the doorbell’s circuit. When someone presses the doorbell’s button, a switch then closes the doorbell’s circuit, which causes a current to flow through the circuit and triggers your chime. Without a chime, when the switch closes the circuit, this will create a short-circuit, which will damage your Smart Video Doorbell.
You can still install the Video Doorbell without a chime using the Netatmo Plug-In Transformers and In-Wall Transformers. When someone rings your door, not only will it ring on your phone but it can also ring on compatible smart speakers!
Is the Smart Video Doorbell powered by batteries or does it plug into the mains?
The Smart Video Doorbell is powered by your existing wired doorbell’s wires and therefore does not need batteries to work. You don't have to worry about replacing them.
